We’re Katie and Garrett! We met at church, dated for a little bit, ate a lot of pizza, fell in love, went on adventures, got married, bought a house, and got a dog, and now we’re looking to grow our family through adoption! Garrett works from home as a marketing manager, and Katie is a former teacher turned children’s pastor at our church. When we’re not working, you will find Katie working out, hunting for bargains on the sales rack, and doing productions at our local community theater. You will find Garrett playing with our dog, reading, hiking, camping, and collecting records. We love having fun together. We believe that life should always be filled with laughter, whether we’re doing laundry or singing in the car, and that’s what you’ll find us doing. We love our life together and can’t wait to add a baby into the fun!
We have always considered growing our family through adoption. We have been so lucky that we have not just amazing biological families but also so many friends that have become family. We like to call them our heart people. Because of them, we believe family is so much more than blood, and adoption just felt natural. Katie told her parents when she was a kid that she was going to adopt 10 babies. Garrett isn’t so sure about raising 10 babies, but obviously adoption has been on our hearts since before we got married.
We decided to begin our adoption process shortly after Katie’s mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and after a few short months, passed away. Our favorite thing about our “Lele” was how no matter who walked into her house, she made them feel like family. We want our house, and in turn our family, to look the same. We hope that when people look at our family, they will see a home that looks a little bit like heaven. To us, that means babies of all backgrounds and races are all equally loved!
